ARTIST STATEMENT

INCONCEIVABLE. I believe objects carry memories of their experiences, which convey to the observant viewer. By blending vintage female mannequins, gum ball machines, and other found elements, I tell the story of an emotional journey through infertility, assisted reproduction, and medicalized birth. Mannequins are exposed, posed, and touched by strangers. Vintage gum ball machines inserted as wombs represent anticipation and joy from a child’s perspective, but also dehumanization, mechanized giving and impersonal touch from the womb’s point of view. Each mannequin, a unique canvas, conveys a raw snapshot along this journey through bizarre imagery and symbolism. I invite the viewer to imagine taking a gum ball - how does that feel? I hope to spark conversation and raise awareness, increasing collective sensitivity toward these often very private topics.
